Chief Minister adds another benchmark towards ‘Ease of Doing Business’ in Gujarat

Gandhinagar: Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Rupani has added yet another milestone towards ‘Ease of Doing Business’ in Gujarat. It is a step towards taking the state’s developmental saga from ‘Uttam to Sarvottam’.

In the presence of Chief Minister, the Department of Industries and Mines, Government of Gujarat signed an MOU with Adani Ports and SEZ Limited for establishing India’s Biggest Multi-Model Logistics Park at Virochan Nagar, Ahmedabad. Virochan Nagar is situated near India’s automobile hub- Sanand.

This park will be spread in an area of 1450 acres and attract an investment of Rs.50 thousand crores.

During the event, the Chief Minister said, “This park will be directly connected with Dedicated Freight Corridor and all major ports. It is in line with Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and will make businesses in Gujarat, more competitive globally. This park will provide excellent connectivity to the biggest auto hub and upcoming industrial areas in the region.”

The Chief Minister also added that the park will provide direct and indirect employment to more than 25 thousand people. With a dedicated Air Cargo Complex the park will provide direct air, rail and road connectivity to the people in the state.

Additional Chief Secretary to the CM and Industries and Mines, Government of Gujarat Mr. M.K Das and Mr. Karan Adani, CEO, Adani Ports and SEZ Ltd. exchanged the MOUs.

Giving details on this park, ACS to Chief Minister, Mr. M.K Das said, “The air cargo terminal will have a 4.6 km runway which will be capable of handling large carrier vehicles like airplanes. It will also provide a global platform to the local export and import market. A Rail Freight Terminal will also be established. This will be directly connected to the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor.”

A warehouse zone will come up in an area of 90 lakh sq.feet which will house an Air Freight Station ( capacity- 4.5 metric tons), grade-A warehouse, cold storage etc. Besides this, the facility will also have a Shopping Plaza / Business Centre with a total retail footprint of over 3 lakh sq. ft. A dedicated Skill development centre shall be developed with a special focus on Logistics to ensure availability of skilled manpower.

Construction for the same will begin within 6 months of necessary statutory approvals. The entire project will be completed in a phase-wise manner by 2023.

The project is being built keeping in consideration the futuristic capacity requirements given the rapid pace of industrial development underway in the state.The park will have textiles, bulk, e-commerce and BTS facilities in 38 lakh sq.feet, bonded warehouses in 9 lakh sq.feet, grade-A palletized facilities in 4 lakh sq.feet and temperature and palletized facilities in 60 thousand sq.feet.

4 handling line TEU (Twenty-foot equivalent units) will be established with a capacity of 3.3 lakh metric ton in the container yard. Further, a 4-lakh metric ton car yard to handle nearly 30 thousand cars, agri silos of 1 lakh metric ton, POL tank farm of 3.5 lakh kilo litres and a cement silo of 1 lakh metric ton will also come up in the park.

Ahmedabad plays a crucial role in the Integrated Industrial Development project of the state. Sanand, situated near Ahmedabad has undergone large scale industrial development in the last 2 decades.

Sanand has emerged as the Automobile Hub of the Country. Commencement of this project will open new doors of socio-economic development and create a wave of mass employment for the population of the district.
